30 Ways to Show Appreciation for SHICK Volunteers
- Write a thank you note.
- Mention them in a publication.
- Seek their opinions.
- Cite their work as an example for others to follow.
- Offer them extra responsibility, like mentoring a new volunteer.
- Serve refreshments when they gather for a meeting or come in to visit.
- Call to ask, "How's it going?"
- Invite them to work with you on a complicated case or project.
- Take them to lunch.
- Ask them to represent SHICK at a meeting or on an advisory board.
- Ask your Sponsoring Organization's director to write a thank you.
- Find training, leadership development, and skills-building opportunities for them.
- Give them free tickets to sporting and cultural events.
- Nominate them for community service awards.
- Ask them to participate with you in press interviews and photo opportunities.
- Celebrate birthdays (with cake) at regular meetings of the volunteers and/or staff.
- Give certificates of appreciation.
- Honor them publicly for completion of specialized training.
- Share information about how their work helps beneficiaries and caregivers.
- Copy and distribute the thank you notes that your organization receives for SHICK services.
- Celebrate their anniversary date or years of service with the State SHICK Office.
